What the small text generator makes
The small text generator turns ordinary letters into tiny characters that you can paste anywhere. It works as a small caps generator and a tiny text generator in one, with three kinds of small text.
- Small caps look like capital letters shrunk to the height of lowercase letters, like ᴛʜɪꜱ.
- Superscript letters are tiny and float above the line, like the letters in a footnote.
- Subscript letters are tiny and sit below the line, like the numbers in H₂O.
Apps do not let you change the font size of a bio or a username. These styles get around that because each tiny letter is its own Unicode character, taken from blocks made for phonetics and math.

How to use it
- Type or paste your text into the box.
- Small caps appear as the featured result.
- Scroll down for superscript, subscript and more than 15 other styles.
- Tap Copy on the one you like and paste it.
Which small style to choose
| Style | Best for | Coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Small caps | Bios, names, headings, quiet emphasis | Every letter, with close matches for q and x |
| Superscript | Footnotes, cute tags, tiny side notes | Most letters and all digits |
| Subscript | Chemistry, math, playful notes | Some letters and all digits |
Small caps are the most reliable choice because 24 letters have a true small caps form, and q and x use close lookalikes. Superscript is missing a few letters, and subscript is missing many, so those styles mix tiny and normal letters for some words.
Ideas for small text
- Instagram bios. Use small caps for a clean, minimal look under your name.
- Captions. Add a tiny afterthought at the end of a caption.
- Discord. Small caps names look neat and stay readable. See our fonts for Discord for more name styles.
- Notes and formulas. Write H₂O, x² or footnote marks in apps without formatting.
- Aesthetic posts. Mix small caps with soft aesthetic script.
Why some letters stay normal size
Unicode includes small letters because linguists and mathematicians needed them, not because anyone planned a full tiny alphabet. That is why small caps are nearly complete, while superscript has no standard q and subscript covers only 17 of the 26 letters. When the generator cannot find a tiny version, it leaves the normal letter in place so your words stay readable.
Tip. If a word looks uneven in superscript or subscript, use small caps instead.
Where small text works
Small text uses characters that every modern phone and computer can display. It works in Instagram, TikTok, X, Discord, WhatsApp, Telegram and most games that allow Unicode names. A few older devices may show an empty box for rare characters, but small caps are widely supported.
Accessibility
Screen readers often read small caps correctly, but may spell out superscript and subscript letters one at a time. Keep important details in plain text.
Small caps in typography
Small caps are much older than the internet. Printers have used them for centuries to set acronyms, headings and the first words of a chapter, because they add emphasis without shouting the way full capitals do. Many books still use small caps for names in the first line of a section. The Unicode small caps on this page borrow that look and make it available in places where you cannot choose a font.

Superscript and subscript for math and science
Superscript and subscript digits are the most complete part of the tiny alphabet, which makes them useful for quick notes in apps without formatting.
| What you want | Type this | Style to copy |
|---|---|---|
| A squared number | x2 | Superscript gives ˣ² |
| Water | H2O | Subscript gives ₕ₂ₒ |
| Carbon dioxide | CO2 | Subscript gives Cₒ₂ |
| A footnote mark | note1 | Superscript gives ⁿᵒᵗᵉ¹ |
Superscript and subscript also include plus, minus, equals and bracket signs, so short formulas usually come through cleanly.
Small text for Discord and gaming names
Small caps are a favorite for names because they look neat, stay readable and work almost everywhere. Most styled letters count as one character, so a small caps name uses the same space as a plain one. For more name styles, see the Discord fonts generator.
Why small text can look blurry or uneven
Small caps, superscript and subscript come from different parts of Unicode, so each device may draw them with a different fallback font. On some phones the tiny letters look slightly heavier or sit at slightly different heights. Superscript letters can also look uneven because a few of them come from separate blocks. If a word looks messy, small caps is the most consistent choice.
Small text compared with tiny fonts and emoji letters
Many sites call themselves a tiny text generator, but the tiny text they offer is often just superscript, while others use regional indicator emoji or squared letters to make text look different. Those are separate styles. Small caps keep the shape of capital letters at a smaller height, superscript shrinks letters and lifts them, and subscript shrinks them and lowers them. Emoji letters are larger and colorful on many phones, so they are not a good fit when you want subtle, quiet text.
If you want text that is smaller and also decorative, try pairing small caps with a frame from the aesthetic fonts generator, or use the superscript style for a single word at the end of a caption.
