How the bold text generator works
Most social apps let you type but not format. There is no bold button in an Instagram bio, a TikTok caption or a LinkedIn post. The bold text generator gets around that by using bold characters from the Unicode standard.
Unicode includes full alphabets of bold letters and digits, created for mathematics, where a bold letter can mean something different from a normal one. The generator swaps each letter you type for its bold twin. Because the result is made of real characters, it stays bold when you paste it.

Where bold text helps most
- Instagram bios. Make your name, role or link label stand out. Our Instagram font changer adds a bio length counter.
- TikTok and Instagram captions. Bold the first line, which shows before the more button.
- LinkedIn posts. Bold a heading or a key takeaway, since LinkedIn posts have no formatting.
- Display names. Make a name stand out in games, Discord and other apps.
- Listings. Bold a price or the key feature in a marketplace post.

Tips for using bold well
Bold a few words, not everything. Bold works because it stands out. A whole paragraph in bold is harder to read and loses its punch.
Use bold sans on phones. It holds up best at small sizes.
Keep links and handles plain. Bold letters break links, email addresses and handles because they are different characters.
Watch accents. Letters with accents usually stay plain, because Unicode only has bold versions of basic Latin letters.
Will bold text hurt my reach
Bold Unicode text is just text, so it does not break any rules. Some people believe styled text lowers reach on social apps, and there is no clear public evidence either way. What we do know is that search inside apps may not match bold letters to normal words, so keep the words people search for, such as your name or business type, in plain text too.
Accessibility
Screen readers may read each bold letter as mathematical bold capital A and so on. Use bold sparingly, and repeat important information in plain text.
How bold text differs from a bold font
In a word processor or on a website, a bold font is a style applied to normal letters. The letters stay the same, only the way they are drawn changes. Unicode bold text is different. Each bold letter is a separate character, so the bold travels with the text when you copy it. That is why it works in plain text fields, but also why search, spell check and screen readers may not recognize it as a normal word.
Bold text on LinkedIn
LinkedIn posts have no formatting options, so bold Unicode text is a common way to add headings or highlight a key point. Use it with care.
- Bold a short heading at the top of a post or a section.
- Keep keywords plain so the post can still be found in LinkedIn search.
- Avoid bolding whole paragraphs, which is tiring to read and looks spammy.
Bold text on YouTube
YouTube comments and descriptions have their own bold. Put one asterisk on each side of a word, with a space before the first asterisk, and YouTube makes it bold when you post. That built in bold is easier to read and stays searchable, so use it there first. Unicode bold is useful in places that ignore the asterisks, such as video titles and channel names. In a title it can look eye catching, but YouTube search may not match bold words to what people type, so keep the important words plain.

Bold digits for prices and stats
Unlike many fancy styles, bold sans and bold serif include digits. That makes them handy for highlighting a price, a year or a score in a post.
Bold text on iPhone and Android
Bold Unicode text pastes the same way on phones as on computers. Type your words, tap Copy, then tap and hold in your app and choose Paste. If the bold letters turn into boxes, the font on that phone does not include them. Try bold serif instead of bold sans, or keep that word plain. To check the look before you post, paste into a draft or a note first.
When not to use bold Unicode
Bold Unicode is not a good fit for emails, documents or websites you control, because those already support real bold formatting. Real bold is easier to edit, works with search and is read correctly by screen readers. Save Unicode bold for places that have no formatting at all, such as bios, display names and comments.
